Each person has personality characteristics that influence his or her buying behavior. What does personality mean in terms of buying traits?

A consumer's personality, which is often described as buying characteristics such as self-confidence, dominance, autonomy, obedience, sociability, defensiveness, and adaptability, can influence the consumer's performance when purchasing items.

For example, in the process of purchasing, extroverted consumers prefer to exchange opinions with salespeople, will take the initiative to ask about things related to goods, and will be more decisive in the decision of whether to buy goods.

Personality is a useful variable in analyzing consumers' brand choices, and brands can master consumers' preferences through a large amount of data tracking analysis.

In addition, each brand also has its own personality, and consumers may choose brands that match their personality.

For some purpose, marketers find it useful to categorize her by age, gender, income, or occupation.

These are descriptive characteristics of the population or demographics. In other cases, marketers prefer to know about Gail's interests in clothing, music or her leisure style. Knowledge of consumer characteristics plays an extremely important role in many marketing applications, such as when a manufacturer defines a market for a product, or when an advertising agency decides to adopt appropriate technology for a particular consumer group. Gail's sorority membership had a big influence on her buying decision. Our conversations with others convey a great deal of product information and advice on using or avoiding specific brands;

This content often has more impact than what we see in TV ads, magazines or billboards. The growth of the Web has created thousands of online consumer communities where members share opinions and suggestions on everything from Barbie dolls to fantasy baseball lineups to iPhone apps. Gail bonded with the rest of the team because they used the same product. Each group member is under pressure to buy what is approved by the group. Consumers can pay a high price in the form of group exclusion or embarrassment when they do not conform to other people's concepts of good and bad, "in" and "out." As members of a large society, such as in the United States, people have shared cultural values or strong beliefs about how the world should work. Members of a subculture or smaller groups within that culture also share values;

Brands often have clearly defined images or "personalities" that advertising, packaging, branding and other marketing elements help to shape. Even choosing a favorite website is largely a lifestyle statement: it says a lot about a person's interests and who he or she wants to be. People often buy a product because they like its image, or because they feel its "personality" fits them in some way. This was true even when they judged others; After all, each of us is, to some extent, a "brand" that others like or dislike -- hence the popularity of dating apps like Tinder that allow people to quickly choose between competing options!

In addition, a consumer may believe that if he or she buys and uses the product or service, its desirable qualities will "magically" rub off on him or her. When a product or service meets our specific needs or desires, we may reward it with years of brand loyalty, a bond between product and consumer that is hard for competitors to break.

1. Who can be an entrepreneur?

Anyone with the ability to take risks, a clear vision, dedication to work, leadership, courage and creativity has the potential to be an entrepreneur. We can take Roxanne as an example, even though she experienced many ups and downs in her life, she never gave up. She devoted herself to her work. She can work under uncertainty and knows how to respond appropriately to situations.

2. What are the risks, rewards, and trade-offs of a lifestyle business versus a high-potential business—one that will exceed $5 million in sales and grow substantially?

Lifestyle business is one where the entrepreneur seeks to generate an "adequate" income while living where s/he wants, doing what s/he loves, or having the flexibility to be around. Lifestyle entrepreneurs as a specific breed of business owner who is neither a financially independent hobbyist nor wealth-seeking empire-builder. According to the National Commission on Entrepreneurship, at any given time, 6% to 9% of the United States adult population is involved in planning for a new business. Most of these aspiring entrepreneurs, they say, will start a "Lifestyle Business" - primarily providing employment to themselves and their families.

3. What is the difference between an idea and an opportunity? For whom? What can be learned from Exhibits C and D?

1. How does Interface demonstrate that competitive advantage and sustainability are not mutually exclusive?

Interface LTD has attracted a lot of attention to its products through "green marketing". It has replaced petrified carpets with carpets made from renewable biomass with little loss of quality that are certified as climate neutral. Interface has successfully positioned itself to be the first truly sustainable company on earth.

Under the strong leadership of the CEO, the company saw an opportunity to achieve win-win eco-efficiency initiatives that paid off quickly and effectively. Through its profitable operation, it proves that a sustainable business can also make money.

In the future, sustainable companies will be more likely to gain recognition from consumers, partners, investors and so on. Because sustainable development means that in addition to environmental protection, the company has strong technology and ability, as well as development potential, so it is more likely to be favored by the market.

2. What system of complementary activities contribute to Interface’s competitiveness?

3. Write a brief memo to the founders of Panda Sunglasses outlining a bootstrap marketing plan for the company.

Panda Sunglasses is a company in which they sell sunglasses with polarized lenses.  The sunglasses are made from bamboo frames and are unique, stylish sunglasses that can float. Our sunglass frames are made from bamboo, a renewable resource that is lightweight and sturdy. We need to emphasize that we are being socially responsible in several ways.  We are providing free eye exams to the needy, using a renewable resource such as bamboo and not using plastics.

Plastics are a derivative of oil that is not only harmful to the environment but cannot be

renewed. Bamboo grows extremely fast and some say it is a wood that can save the planet. Through marketing research, we have determined that for this reason the target market for the sunglasses should be young people along with the eco-conscious and people who believe in social responsibility and because of this we should target urban areas, coastal areas and college campuses.

4. Use the business model canvas to illustrate Panda Sunglasses’ business model. Can you identify other revenue streams that could support the company? How can the company strengthen its relationships with customers?
